Bailiffscourt hotel & Spa

Bailiffscourt built in the 1920′s by the late Sir Walter Guinness – a family retreat, and an architectural wonder. Original stone and wood work was gathered from all over England to make up the series of buildings that is Bailiffscourt. Gothic mullioned windows overlook the rose clad courtyard, whilst narrow passageways lead you through a series of intimate lounges and sitting rooms. Many of the public rooms feature open log fires, and a wealth of fine antiques, tapestries and abundance of fresh flowers throughout the hotel. Set in 30 acres of parkland, with moats and small streams, there is an abundance of wild life to be seen, all of which is closely guarded by peacocks. I am proud to be the preferred supplier and the official photographer at Bailiffscourt Hotel.

Bury Court Barn

I have been lucky enough to have photographed several beautiful weddings at The Barn at Bury Court. Also referred to as Bury Court Barn, many of my images can be found on their website. Everything about The Barn at Bury Court is quite simply stunning. The huge oak beams are truly impressive, yet mellow and welcoming. The venue offers an impressive combination of rustic and modern styles. The original beams are offset by a natural oak floor and clean minimalist lines. The Barn at Bury Court is licensed for civil weddings. For your wedding reception, up to 180 guests may be seated for dining. Overlooked by a dramatic balcony, the barn may be divided by curtains to great effect in order to create separate ceremony and reception areas. Their website is http://www.burycourtbarn.co.uk/

Buxted Park is a very polular venue for weddings, and I regularly photograph weddings there each year.

Farbridge

Farbridge is another lovely barn wedding venue located not far from me. Although it is a barn conversion it has a more modern feel than some, particularly in the ceremony room. The grounds are very well kept and there are some great locations for photo’s, including a lovely old bridge and stream. Farbridge is set in the rural landscape of the Sussex downs, within easy access of London, Brighton and Southampton, the beautifully restored barns are designed specifically for wedding receptions and licensed for civil ceremonies. With facilities for between 60 – 150 guests you create your perfect occasion to suit your style for a memorable and romantic wedding day. The modern facilities, combined with 10 contemporary bedrooms, make Farbridge a flexible and ideal venue to entertain your family and friends, perfect for weddings whatever the season.

"Kevin photographed our wedding at Farbridge in September and he was completely brilliant. He arrived promptly in the morning and instantly made us feel at ease. He was friendly to everyone and was never pushy, even when he had to coordinate all the big group shots. We aren’t natural posers at all but he made it seem completely natural. The weather wasn’t great but Kevin knew how to work around it to get amazing shots. He was also great at getting some beautiful natural pictures of the guests when they didn’t know he was there! He stayed later than he needed to and also sent the link to the photos very soon after the wedding which was brilliant. We are so completely thrilled with the finished photos, we can’t stop looking at them. We’d recommend Kevin to everyone. He is everything you would look for in a wedding photographer – professional, friendly, and he really knows how to get the most beautiful pictures."

Field Place

After shooting weddings for so many years, I had a lovely surprise when I booked a wedding here at Field Place in Worthing. It’s such a great little venue and so close to home. I could not believe I had not been there before! They have a choice of two large converted barns set in the magnificent grounds of an 18th Century English Manor House. Both rooms enjoy stunning views of the grounds and the capacity to seat up to 120 guests. It is hard to imagine a more picturesque and delightful setting for that special occasion than Field Place. The venue is conveniently situated to Durrington Station, with easy access and free parking facilities. Licensed bar facilities are available, table and toast drinks to suit your requirements. When it comes to catering for your big day, they offer you complete flexibility – you can use their catering service, self-catering or bring in outside caterers.

Fitzleroi Barn

Fitzleroi Barn is another lovely Sussex barn wedding reception venue, the ideal setting for your special day celebrations. Fitzleroi Barn is situated on a beautiful West Sussex farm in the stunning West Sussex countryside. The function Barn benefits from a private courtyard which guests have full and exclusive use of. The versatility of the setting allows the barn to comfortably cater for up to 180 guests. The Function Barn is run in a very relaxed atmosphere. Their goal is to let couples feel that the barn is an “extension of their own home” for their special day. What I love about this venue is the variety of locations, particularly with the fields out at the back of the barns. You never know what you will find there (unless like in 2013 I was there week after week!). I always treat my locations with the utmost respect, and insist that just myself and the happy couple venture into the field and don’t cause any damage to the crops. Not every couple want to have shots taken in the field so that’s fine too, there are several other stunning backgrounds to choose from, such as the lovely brick walls or textured wood of the barn itself. The nature of the building provides shelter from wind, which is an added bonus too. If you are looking to view more Fitzleroi Barn wedding photo’s, just visit the view weddings section. Also follow the ‘more’ link to see complete weddings in full, there is a complete wedding with reception at Fitzleroi Barn to view on that page.

As dusk falls the gardens and pathways are romantically lit, giving that extra special ambience to the day. The house is licensed to conduct civil wedding ceremonies for up to 85 guests, and the banqueting room can accommodate 100 guests for a wedding breakfast. Fontwell House is just a stones throw from me and I have been lucky enough to have shot several weddings and receptions there over the years.

Norfolk Arms

Compared to other Arundel hotels, the Norfolk Arms hotel has a wealth of history and heritage. A charming Georgian Coaching Inn, built over 200 years ago by the 10th Duke of Norfolk. It soon became the local meeting place and a popular resting spot for weary travellers.

To this day the Arundel Society for the Prosecution of Thieves and Felons still hold their annual Dinner at this Arundel Hotel – a tradition which dates back to the 18th century. The Norfolk Arms hotel is set under the battlements of Arundel Castle and has an atmosphere of traditional permanence, the kind that prevails in all the gracious buildings that make up Britain’s colourful heritage.

Being a preferred supplier for the Norfolk Arms Hotel in Arundel I cover many weddings there every year. I also supplied the images for their wedding brochure. The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Arundel, and close to some fantastic backgrounds for your wedding photographs.

Kevin took the pictures of our big day at the Norfolk Arms and I cant recommend his work highly enough. With the pre shoot he made us feel at ease in front of the camera, he wasn’t intrusive at all during the day and yet he captured every single aspect of the day and you can tell by the quality of the pictures and the composition that Kevin really knows what he is doing. Also the packages Kevin offers are great value for money. "If you are thinking about wedding photographers in Sussex then Kevin’s the man to go to, friendly, listens to what the couple want and seems to genuinely care about how the couple want the photos to look. Recommended for sure."

Stanhill Court

Stanhill Court Hotel is full of potential for your wedding photographs. Set high on Stan Hill surrounded by the South Downs in 35 acres of ancient wooded countryside, Stanhill Court Hotel was built as a family home originally, to the exacting requirements of Mr William Young, a Scottish landowner and marine underwriter with Lloyds of London. The house, constructed in 1881 in the Scottish Baronial style is rich in the warmth of pitch pine panelling with elaborate carvings throughout the hall, minstrel’s gallery and barrel roof enhanced by original stained glass windows depicting the family coat of arms, which set the scene for the many delights to be found within. A feature of individually furnished bedrooms, many of which have 4 poster beds, all add to the charm of this delightful hotel that is still small enough to care. Our Restaurant 1881 is open to non residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You may wish to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the Library, with far distant uninterrupted views, or The Patio Bar, which changes the scenery to a Spanish style courtyard.Booking recommended. Here are a few images from a recent wedding at Stanhill Court in Surrey.

Spread Eagle Hotel

Kevin Watkins Photography is a Spread Eagle Hotel wedding photographer. The Spread Eagle is Set in the historic Sussex market town of Midhurst within its own picturesque grounds, the Spread Eagle Hotel dates back in parts to 1430 and was once a coaching inn favoured by the rich and famous of the time. Today, it is the quintessentially English historic luxury hotel, retaining its heritage, yet providing every contemporary comfort.

Stepping into the hotel is like taking a journey back in time. Relax in the comfortable leather chairs of the 15th century lounge with its ancient oak beams and leaded light windows, warmed by huge open fire in the cooler months. Just above the lounge is the Queen’s Suite, said to have accommodated Elizabeth I when she came
this way in 1591. The sentried hallway leads to the Restaurant with its inglenook fireplace and stained glass windows, where guests enjoy fine dining in traditional surroundings. I am an officially recommended wedding photographer for the Spread Eagle Hotel.

Recent post from the blog:

Last week I photographed the lovely wedding of Sarah & Liam at The Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst. The weather was a little challenging but we made the most of the sun in between the showers! I began coverage with Sarah, not so much getting ready but rather more the last few minutes before the ceremony, so a few of Sarah by herself in her dress and then with bridesmaids and parents before meeting up with Liam and the guys for their pre wedding shots. Their intimate ceremony was held in the beautiful King Edward VII room which is in the oldest part of the hotel. Afterwards we went out into the gardens and managed one group shot before the heavens opened! Fortunately it passed and we were back outside again in no time. After a few requested groups and some romantic shots outside I finished up with a couple more indoors, on the stairs and in the main hall. I stayed with them up to the wedding breakfast before heading home.

Upwaltham Barns

One of my favourite venues in Sussex has to be Upwaltham Barns, and I have been lucky enough to shoot many weddings there over recent years and am now a recommended Upwaltham Barns wedding photographer. Nestling in the heart of the Sussex Downs in West Sussex between Petworth and Chichester, Upwaltham Barns provide a beautiful and unique setting for wedding receptions. The atmosphere at this venue is delightfully friendly, unstuffy and helpful and the owners, Tim and Nicola, will go out of their way to help you.

The excellent facilities at the venue suit all kinds of occasion. The larger of the two barns can accommodate up to 170 for seated dining. For your wedding, it may be possible to have a Service of Blessing at the exquisite, medieval church situated in the meadow opposite the venue. Alternatively, both barns are licensed for civil wedding and partnership ceremonies.

Kevin is an amazing photographer and I am so pleased with the photographs he took of our wedding at Upwaltham Barns! He has enabled us to have a special reminder of our fabulous day. He listened to what kind of photographs we wanted and took this on board throughout the day. The quality of his work is exceptional and he has a real eye for amazing photographs. We genuinely felt that he was very good value for money and it was fantastic that not only could he provide the storybook we wanted but also a CD of all of our photos so that we were able to do what we wanted with them. Kevin is a real professional and I would thoroughly recommend him!. Lisa Jones.

The Walled Garden at Cowdray

The Walled Garden at Cowdray is a fantastic location for wedding photographs, not only for the beautiful gardens themselves but also the stunning and historic Cowdray Ruins. Warbrook House

Warbrook House is situated in a particularly secluded and attractive location on the Hampshire/Berkshire border with amazing views for your wedding photographs. Set in 130 beautiful acres of woodland and parkland, Warbrook combines a traditional Georgian manor house and the Grange which is a separate contemporary building with all modern comforts. As you reach the end of the tree-lined driveway, Warbrook House sweeps into view: a magnificent Grade I listed mansion set in 130 acres of Grade II listed gardens, complete with its very own Versailles style canal. Warbrook House sets the perfect romantic tone for your wedding. There are stunning photo opportunities at every turn, wonderful mature woodland and the elegant Waterloo bridge. But there’s much more to the setting than breathtaking beauty and historic grandeur. I have covered a couple of weddings at Warbrook House recently, just vist my 'weddings' section to have a look.
