This week we photographed the wedding of Claire and Peter at Rowhill Grange, Wilmington in Kent. The happy (and lucky) couple amazingly won their wedding and reception in a competition they entered in a wedding magazine called ‘A Kentish Wedding’. It was a glorious hot sunny day, which was ideal for the outdoor ceremony. Afterwards we headed to the shade of a huge tree to take all of the photographs while the guests mingled with champagne and canapés. The photographs will be online in around a week’s time.

On Sunday we photographed the wedding of Ma’ayan & James at St Augustine’s in Westgate-on-Sea, Kent. We covered their special day from Ma’ayan getteing ready through to their wedding breakfast. On Saturday the 26th we photographed the wedding of Vikki & Mike at St Mary’s House in Bramber followed by their reception at the Old Tollgate Hotel. The weather was amazing, hot and sunny (a little too sunny for my liking but cant complain!). We covered their special day from Vikki getting ready through to the first dance and evening celebrations. The full set of photographs will be online in about a weeks time.

Lisa & David at St James the Less

On Saturday the 12th, we photographed the wedding blessing of Lisa & David. We began coverage with Lisa getting ready at the Burlington Hotel in Worthing before going on to St James the Less in Lancing. The church has a bit of a history of wet weddings (my own included!) and sure enough a heavy downpour came over just as they came out of the church, but unlike my own wedding it passed over in about ten minutes leaving us with clear blue skies for the rest of the day! The reception was held at Lancing Manor where we stayed with them into the evening, capturing plenty of dancing and chocolate fountain fun and games. The photographs will be online in a week or so, but here is a handful to be going on with.

Wedding of Stephanie & Gale

On Sunday the 6th April we photographed our first ‘white’ wedding, well almost. The wedding of Stephanie & Gale took place at Bailiffscourt Hotel at 4.30pm. We arrived an extra hour before we were due to start in the hope of capturing some of the snow before it all melted away, and we only just made it! After the ceremony most of the snow had gone, leaving just the snowmen that the staff had made earlier in the day. It was still completely freezing but Stephanie was brave enough to go outside for some photographs, well done and all the best for the future.

On Saturday 5th April we photographed the wedding of Becky & Andy at St Andrews Church in Steyning, followed by reception at Dorset House in Bury. We were blessed with a beautiful warm sunny couple of hours in which to do all our important photographs and for them to relax with their friends and relations, after which the heavens opened! Becky & Andy were a treat to work with and we hope they have a wonderful honeymoon.

On Saturday 29th March we photographed the wedding of Allison and Tom at St Nicholas Church, Bramber Castle and reception at the Old Tollgate Hotel just opposite. As usual we were tremendously lucky with the weather, although unfortunately it wasn’t quite good enough to go up to the Castle ruins as planned, the rain held off until the beginning of the wedding breakfast. I have photographed Allison and Tom a couple of times over recent years and they make a wonderful couple, we wish them all the very best for their future together.

This afternoon I photographed 8-year-old Ben at my favourite spot on Lancing beach. It was sunny but completely freezing! We had to try and avoid the wood washed up on the beach and the contractors dealing with it. Here are a couple of shots from the shoot.

The Wedding of Pamela & James

Today I photographed the wedding of Pamela & James at St Catherine’s Church in Littlehampton. The wedding was at 2pm so there was still plenty of light to play with when they came out of the Church. After a short photo session at Bailiffscourt we set off for their drinks reception and buffet at the Black Horse just up the road. After I left, they went back to Bailiffscourt for their wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.

Web design

On Friday I spent several hours changing the web design because I discovered that after all these years the slide in side menu was not visible on the Safari browser. Around 10% of visitors use Safari so it was vital I made it work properly for them. I will be making more changes over the next week or so; this time of year is ideal to catch up on this kind of stuff!

Password Protection

All weddings will now require a username and password in order to view them. I have decided that initially this will be the their names followed by their new Surname. This will enable friends and family to view them as before. For example; Clare and Paul Smith would be username: clareandpaul and password: smith. All should be in lower case.

SWPP Convention

Today I attended a seminar with Doug Gordon at the 2008 SWPP convention. This was an inspirational demonstration of new techniques and practices and we had a great day. I will be going back tomorrow along with my assistant for the trade show. Here are a couple of my shots from today.

Awards in 2007

I recently joined the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers, which is an International Association for Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographers. Since joining I have entered only a handful of images into their highly acclaimed monthly image competitions, and have been awarded merit awards for two of them shown below. Very few images go through to receive merit awards each month as the standards are high, so I am quite pleased with this achievement.

Storybook Prices

Here is some great news for those looking at my Storybook albums this year. Although the manufacturers have increased their prices they have recently introduced design software to greatly assist photographers in the design process, thus allowing us to produce a better book in less time. The average size book would take me several working days to design, but with the new software I am able to do this in no more than two days. I am therefore pleased to announce that I have reduced the price of my Storybook albums to reflect this reduction in time required to design them.

For couples that have already booked a package to include a storybook, this will enable me to increase their book size to accommodate more images or will have the option to have the monetary difference reduced from their balance when it becomes due.

As a guide, a thirty-page book now starts at £480 as opposed to £505, and the fifty-page book is now reduced from £750 to just £620. This reduction is made across the entire range of sizes. The turnaround time for books will however remain at around a week for the design and delivery of proofs and approximately six weeks for the production of the book itself.

Album inclusive package options have been removed from my website due to this change, and I will return to providing albums (of all types) as an optional addition to my normal print packages. This allows couples to book the exact package and album to suit them.

Wedding of Elaine & Ben

Elaine & Ben were married on Saturday 5th January at West Stoke House near Chichester. We hadn’t met until the day, as they had come all the way from Australia to get married here. The ceremony was at 4pm, which meant we had to shoot everything indoors; this had one big advantage for us…we kept warm for once!! We covered their special day from Bridal preparations to the evening celebrations. The photographs will be online later today.
